Matt Barrett is the Assistant General Counsel and Secretary to the Audit Committee at FordDirect. In this role, he is focused on strategic leadership of the legal function.

Mr. Barrett’s experience spans over fifteen years and multiple industries including automotive, technology, digital advertising, pharmaceuticals, life sciences, and lifestyle brands. He has experience as legal counsel to senior management of dozens of companies on all aspects of domestic and international corporate and commercial transactions, corporate governance, and regulatory and data privacy matters. Mr. Barrett believes in servant leadership and is passionate about leading with integrity and building and safeguarding cultures in which everyone is treated with dignity and respect.

Prior to joining FordDirect in 2014, Mr. Barrett was Counsel, Corporate Affairs for Chrysler Group (now Stellantis) and an Associate with Latham & Watkins, LLP in California. He received his law degree from the University of Michigan Law School and his undergraduate degree in political science and philosophy from the University of Notre Dame. He is licensed to practice law in California and Michigan and is a Certified Information Privacy Professional (CIPP/US) through the International Association of Privacy Professionals. Mr. Barrett is a Board member for multiple non-profits in Metro Detroit and is the proud father of eight children with his wife, Ashlee.
